Press Release:
Demand for Video Services Driving Growth of FTTH Equipment Market
TechNavio today published its report FTTH Equipment Market in the APAC Region 2010—2014. The report discusses the key trends impacting the growth of this market.
TechNavio’s report highlights that the demand for video services has been increasing against voice services. This has also become a major driver for FTTH. With declining ARPU of voice services, data and video services is becoming the major revenue driver for telecom operators. Currently, video services offers the highest ARPU to telecom operators which is the primary reason for telecom operators to adopt next-generation equipment to deliver video services. To provide voice, video and data in a single channel would require more bandwidth which the DSL lines cannot provide. Hence, telecom operators are shifting towards FTTH technologies which can support voice, data and videos over a single channel.
Commenting on the report, an analyst from TechNavio’s Telecom team said, 'The APAC region accounts for over 70 percent of the FTTH ports shipped across the globe. Japan and South Korea are already reaching saturation, but countries such as China, Singapore, and Australia are making significant investments to replace their existing copper lines with fiber lines. The Chinese Government is providing full support to implement this technology, which is expected to be a trend in the near future.”
Key findings from the report:
• Increasing Adoption Specifically China and UAE
• Continuing Issues with Telecom and Cable Operators
• Shift in Demand from DSL to FTTH
The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key players.
