China’s domestic aluminum supply is expected to marginally exceed demand in 2012, although demand is expected to exceed supply during 2013—2016. Transport is the largest end user of aluminum in China. The Chinese government revealed a policy to consolidate the country’s aluminum production capacity and to add new aluminum capacity in Northwestern provinces due to their advantage of low production costs. This policy will significantly lower the country’s aluminum output costs.
